Sundry Thoughts, Plus Tell Me What to Read
May. 1st, 2008 02:49 pmWeird Thought: Chitty-Chitty Bang-Bang: The original Steampunk film?
Happy Thought: Don't need to buy a new transit pass. It turns out that where my ID-and-transit-pass card went astray was at the little café-deli where I sometimes buy sandwiches, and they found it and passed it on to a coworker who brought it back to me. Yay. The ID replacement is free, but the bus pass costs a snootful.
Smug Thought: ASUS should pay me a sales commission for taking my eee places. Virtually every time I take it out I get gently mobbed by nearby train passengers. People want to know what it is, what it does, how much does it weigh, and Where Can I Get One?? I especially get asked by women, but I think this is because mine is pink. Still no Hello, Kitty stickers, tho.
Medical Observation: Finally getting my C-2 vertebra back in place is an incredible head rush. Very floaty and relaxed, after that. Alas, I think I've already knocked it back out a bit. Lucky I'm back to the Chiro on Tuesday. And the combined insurance covers 20 visits per year. Yay, double insurance.
Book Thought: After finishing Ha'penny (not as much of a breathless headlong rush as Farthing but still, very engaging book with many of the same virtues of complexity, sophistication, and note-perfect tone as the first one without me getting kicked out of the narrative by Unfortunate Clues), I am in the mood for something Just Like Bad Monkeys, without being Bad Monkeys, since I've already read that (thanks, Luke!). Anybody have something really wonderful in mind that I should read next?
