I also like the Bear's response.
If you want to do something for queer rights, hold hands with same sex friends in public places. In Missisipi. Declaring your loyalty to the cause to a circle of people who have in large part been pre-selected FOR AGREEING WITH YOU doesn't impress me much. That just looks like trying to browbeat your squeeing fangrrls into doing likewise so you can feel important.

Date: 2006-10-03 06:57 pm (UTC)And I don't think passing memes around amongst a bunch of people who already agree with each other *does* lift the veil, and because of the nature of LJ most people don't have a big enough microphone here to reach significantly beyond that closed circle.
So, yea, plus ten for laudable sentiment, zero for effectiveness, minus ten for coercive approach.
