Backroom banter about a candidate with an, er, idiosyncratic, vita inspired me to point out that I must nevertheless stand up for Santa Cruz, as the home of another oddball mascot. "But," I muttered, "I bet they don't sell a lot of plush toys of theirs!"

Boy would I be wrong.

There is no need to apologize for a plush anteater. I mean, who would not want one? I know I do. Is the anteater the Irvine mascot? My god, that's cool.

I wasn't being sniffy about people who own collegiate stuff, I just don't know people wear items from their own college's bookstore. I, for instance, own several t-shirts from European universities. Get me, I didn't go to the Sorbonne, check out this nifty t!
