Okay, the last post is still cranking away, breaking all my personal records for comment response. I guess it struck a nerve. Lots of good suggestions for points I missed -- I could see the essay snowballing hugely if I ever went for revisions. Hell, it could almost be a franchise. I am amused to note, though, that several people end up "disagreeing" with, or adding to my list, but telling me things I already said. I guess I'd better work on my clarity, huh?

Polish it and send it to a paying market.

Gulp. Yessm. I, uh. Hmm. I guess I need to check if the library has a current copy of Writer's Market or something.

Slate or Salon, maybe, or BoingBoing (which may not pay).

What you have here is a few minutes -- okay, days -- before your work turns into something that everybody posts and reposts all over the universe without attribution. Anything that stirs up that much response that rapidly from that many people who don't already know you is a live topic.

Well, okay, in the same way I was talked into unlocking it, I've now put it back under friends-lock for the nonce, while I contemplate my options. I'm pretty happy just to be Warhol-ed (Warholed sounds unfortunate), but your cunning blandishments of potential for Real Publication have seduced me, you vile seducer you.
