living room with fire

What he actually did was get the vac, and then the ash bucket and scoop, and the logs, and the lighter, and do all the clean-up himself. Then he laid a fire in the hearth to greet me when I came home. A single log in the fireplace makes for both more warmth, and more cheer, than I would have guessed. Hearth as home, yanno.

For the limited subset of my crafty readers who might wear plus size ladies jeans, or know someone who does, I will mention that I spotted Not Quite Perfect relaxed fit jeans reduced to $10 a pair at Land's End Overstocks. These are five-pocket jeans hemmed to various lengths. They normally go for almost $40 the pair. The hitch -- they only have white ones. Of course they have white ones -- summer's over and ample women are discouraged from wearing white pants anyway, especially out of season.

But here's the thing. Even if you don't want white jeans, they're white cotton jeans. White cotton takes dye like howdy, and dyes come in a lot of colors, so why not just dye them? What color jeans would milady *like*? Ten bucks for the jeans, and maybe another ten on dye products over at Dharma Trading Co. and you can have a pair of jeans in pretty much any color you fancy. I imagine you could even tie-dye a pair, though I haven't actually tried tie-dyeing jeans myself.

Added bonus -- if you're already on the Lands End e-mailing list, shipping is free.
