At last, the [fnord]ing virus is in retreat. So, for the first time in quite some while, when I trotted off to Parnassus for the morning cuppa, I skipped the mint tea and got myself a nice big vanilla latte. Now, I have a skull-pounding, eye-popping, brain-crushing headache. Aren't the withdrawl headaches supposed to come when you stop drinking coffee? It's just wrong, I tell you. Wrong, wrong, wrong.

Coffee is a migraine trigger for me. Other forms of caffeine aren't problems, but coffee is very bad (even decaf.) I don't know if you have a problem like this, or a headache that's completely unrelated to what you eat or drink, that happened to ruin your day. (I'm sorry it happened to you. I hope you feel better soon.) A lot of migraine triggers were not apparent to me when I was exposed to them every day. I could only recognize them as triggers when I had some time away from them, followed by fairly small, isolated, exposures.

I don't get headaches much, and migraines not in decades -- had a couple, then my doc took me off the pill, and that was that -- but you're right it could still have been that coffee is just a headache trigger for me, if only under limited circumstances. The headache can't have been a migraine, tho (even by these new, namby-pamby standards for migraine) since it turned out to be perfectly responsive to ibuprofen. Still, will probably keep an eye on the coffee intake -- I don't usually drink much anyway, and not at all when I'm sick.
