Like mrissa I'm finding I'm getting comment spam, so for the time being I've changed my settings to disallow anonymous comments, and also to screen comments from those not on my FL. That latter may change quickly if it's more tedious than deleting comment spam.
I have all comments not from LJ accounts screeened. So far I've only gotten one piece of comment spam, and that was from a chinese server. It rang as semi-spam.
More amusing is that the HTML for the url is borked, so the places it did land, it doesn't do any google boosting.
This is disappointing. One of the things that has been a Pro to me for potential converting from movable type to LJ is because LJ didn't have comment spam. Take that one off the list.
Well, comment spam on Lj is a little tougher, or pehaps easier to control. Right now the only way to comment spam me, with any success, is to have an Lj.
That seems to have prevented it, to date. One piece; and that stopped cold, in the course of more than three years, is pretty good.
If I were getting lots of comments, as a rule, that needed to be unscreened, and this suddenly made that tedious, then things would have to be reconsidered.
