Crap, I could only answer about ten of those even with your changes. I've never listened to most of those bands/performers.

Just goes to show there's no such thing as universal experience/cultural reference any more, dunnit? Only ten? Wowee. Still, I guess I shouldn't be surprised -- I've had enough of a look at your current selection to know that a lot of the stuff you have is completely terra incognita to me, so it's only sensible that this would cut both ways.

Well, in this one I at least understand many of the questions, though the idea of having a favorite [X] in many cases is kind of alien. Favorite TV theme would be "This Is It" from the old Bugs Bunny-Road Runner hour. Greatest song about showbiz, in fact.

Oh, something just registered on me. You said in your other post that "The Martian Hop" (presumably by the Randells) was your favorite 50s novelty song. It was 60s. I remember hearing it around 1964, give or take a year. And was I happy to find a copy of it through some internet channel, via a friend who hangs around mp3 newsgroups.

My two favorite Weird Al tunes are both originals, not parodies. "Christmas at Ground Zero," the wacky mashup of kitsch and paranoia (which has an incredible video) is said to be the only song Al wrote out of anger. "Dare To Be Stupid," which also has a dynamite video, is his Devo tribute, and caused Mark Mothersbaugh to declare that they now had to hate Al for doing something they should have done, and doing it so perfectly. I know the feeling.
