What Is It About Tech Guys?

Yes, I know that may be a politically incorrect question, but why is it that most of the ones I've met have the design sense of a squirrel?

I think this guy has some important things to say - but he doesn't even meet minimal typography standards. And to top it off, for his contrasting colors he picked two that I can flat out guarantee that better than five percent of his audience will have trouble telling apart.

Come to think of it, why the devil is he bothering with PowerPoint anyway?

I'm upset about this because when the presentation is rank amateur, it distracts from the message.

It's almost certainly not PowerPoint. Doc is a... well, senior editor of Linux Journal, at least, if not a co-founder. So it's probably whatever the OpenOffice presentation program is.

That said, yeah, I'm not thrilled by the type choices myself, and I am nominally a "tech guy"... But one who's very sensitive to type (Ulrika's been slightly croggled that I can sometimes remember a typeface for something decades after being exposed to it, given that I'm a non-professional in the field).
