On the Lake

Not just one, not even "just" two, but three Great Blue herons spotted today. This seems quite auspicious and portentous in a Japanese New Year sort of way, like dreaming of a hawk, though I don't know of what the portent might be.

We saw one, twice, riding up the West Fork of the San Gabriel River on Saturday.

What we have now (and you might just get) are hundreds, nay thousands, but I can only see some, of Painted Lady butterflies.
