Hey, I'm from Chicago. We had Carl Akeley. He didn't just invent modern taxidermy, on one of his safaris he killed a leopard with his bare hands.
OK, so his elephants in Washington (American Museum of Natural History) may be even cooler than ours (Field Museum of Natural History), but we have acres of his work.
*AND* it was with him that Alice Bradley went on safari [pictures]!
