For the sake of breaking the silence, I give you a memebly thing of sorts: I am herein inspired by [livejournal.com profile] scarlettina:

I will do my best to make something handmade for the first five people who comment to this post. They are encouraged in turn post this same message and make something by hand for the first five people who comment on their respective posts. The rules are it has to be handmade by you and they must receive it before 2012 ends...who's in with me?!

(Language edited to suit my whim; I can't prevent you from doing likewise. I'm hoping that 'by the end of the year' is not too crazy-short a deadline with my established PO avoidance syndrome.)

I like the idea (and I appreciate your edits, which I will retain in my post). I'm in. :)

Okay, you're in. Please send me your postal mailing address to ulrika dot obrien at gmail dot you know the rest. I don't promise to abide by anything, but if you have any suggestions for what sort of thing you would like, I'm willing to take them under advisement. Knitted thing? Jewelry thing? Crocheted thing? Polymer clay objet? Collage? Something practical or purely decorative? Do you have pierced ears? Do you own any cats? How are you fixed for Dalek amigurumi? Miniature Dr. Who scarves?

Address sent.
I have pierced ears, I don't own a cat (sadly), I wear earrings and necklaces, I like practical things of beauty, but have also been known to decorate, I don't have any allergies, and since you're in the US the only requirement I would have is that it is something light so you won't break the bank sending it to the UK.

Yay! :D

And so it becomes a crypto-swap, tee-hee! Again, I'm willing to take suggestions as to theme, practicality, or medium under advisement, with no promises given as to what will result.

Hmmmm. I have seen and admired your work in several media, so I stick my toe cautiously in here.

I have to think for a day before deciding if I will post in my turn.

All right, you are number 3. You're in. Assuming I can get all the animal fur out before hand off, are there any fiber allergies I need to be aware of?

If you're working in fiber, the thing should be machine-washable. If you're working in beads, I suppose it's possible you could find a base metal I'd react to, but it's unlikely that you'd use such a thing. If you're working in polymer, paint, words, charcoal, music, or rocks, I don't think I have limitations save those of size (boulders would be too big). If you're working in food, I'm a chancy subject.

Handwork covers a lot of territory.

Thank you.

Cotton before wool, or else superwash wool, polymer clay okay, and keep it a manageable size. Fair enough. I'm currently thinking maybe a set of buttons, but other things may eventuate.

Okay. I need something to propel me back to work! So I'll take something and do the same myself. As you know, Bob, I'm sensitive to wool, but not actually allergic. The finer & softer it is the better I can tolerate it. Other than that, no caveats.
