If anyone else on my friends list wants to spread the word on this, please consider that (a) I've already seen about five re-posts, so chances are, other people on your friends list may have the same experience and (b) I'm more likely to pay attention to friends writing about it in their own words than I am to re-reading the exact same message five times, so perhaps other people may feel that way, too.

By all means, spread the word about legislative nutbaggery, but also, please, have your own contribution to make to the conversation. Show some thought; add some nuance. Pushing a re-post button is lazy and pretty much the opposite of doing something. Turning real issues into chain letters undermines the issues in question.

There's a movement to pass an amendment to the state constitution granting personhood to fertilized eggs. You can start reading up about it here if you want to know more. It strikes me as a bad idea for all sorts of reasons, personally. Not least, it implies that there's a moral and legal obligation to bring to term all successfully fertilized in-vitro eggs, whether the parents wanted that many kids or not...

So people can vote at 17.25 years post-birth, and drink at 20.25 years post-birth? That latter ought to cost them a lot of Federal revenue.
