Your confidence is entirely warranted. And this is one of those times when saying, "It could be worse, you could be in Minneapolis," would actually make sense. This cool, wet lack of summer, while not at all helpful for finishing the painting of my house, beats the snork out of being hot and humid. I really powerfully dislike humid heat.
Lucky you. After opening every window I could find, I got the house down to 75 degrees this morning. Now to strategically start closing drapes before the sun gets high....Our first decade in Colorado, I rarely missed not having air conditioning. The second decade, the period in which air conditioning would be nice seems to get longer each summer.
We have a basement for those times. We've yet to have a year where we blew up an air mattress and slept down there, but it's a backup plan, should we need it. I was eying the portable A/C units at Costco earlier in the year, but so far, This Is Not That Year.
I've lived in Seattle for over 20 years and this is by far the most depressing "summer" I've ever experienced. It's almost made me pack up and move back to the desert where I grew up. At least the heat there was DRY. At least there WAS heat. And sunshine.
Yeah, I'm lucky I come from Scandinavia where summers like this are not that weird. I mostly don't mind the cool, gray weather, aside from the fact that the constant threat of rain means I still haven't been able to finish painting my house from last year. The neighbors must hate us.

Today is looking more promising, though.
