Gakked from Julian Sanchez who gakked it from others:

Shuffle your music library, and then print the resulting top hits. Results, for me, included discovering yet another way in which MusicMatch is cumbersome and user-hostile, but, hey.

2. I'll Tag Along - Richard Thompson
3. Målarskolan - Benny Andersson
4. Destiny - Richard Thompson
5. Ode - Happy Rhodes

It's an interesting exploration. Several artists I don't often think to cue, and universally, not the song I would have picked if I had to choose exactly one song to represent the artist. But nothing I hate or anything. Maybe I should hit Shuffle more often. Or get a different MP3 player, and then hit Shuffle.

I'm a total shuffle junkie. When setting up my iPod mini (for my commute) I normally stick on everything I've bought in the last three months or so (that's an auto-updating smart playlist), and some other stuff, and then just listen on shuffle. For the car we're more sophisticated, but not so much so; we have playlists called loud, quiet, family, kids, new, and shuffle randomly through those instead. At home perhaps 1/3 of my music listening is iTunes Party Shuffle, a totally random selection out of my entire collection. And it does turn up quite a lot of stuff I don't know well, and some things I don't like.
