Sarah-the-Dog Update

Well, the news seems to be pretty good, and I'm guardedly optimistic. Sarah still has four paws, and aside from limping a bit and continuing to disapprove of this bandage business, she seems to be feeling much her old self. We're keeping an eye out for excess bleeding, and she's on more of the same antibiotics, plus an anti-inflamatory. At least now that the mass has been removed, we're done with the antihistamines, so that's four less pills per day.
From what I can gather from Hal having talked to the vet assistant, the excision was a complete success and relatively easy, despite the awkward location. The assistant says they got everything, and I infer that means they were able to get good margins around the mass, and that it hadn't worked its way into deeper tissue or gotten to the bone. I'm taking it on faith that they would tell us if there were signs of runaway growth or metastasis. They have sent the mass to the lab, but there's no further treatment planned other than keeping an eye out for a recurrence. But no chemo or anything like that. So maybe we caught this thing early and got all of it out cleanly. That's what I'm hoping.
Thanks for all good thoughts & wishes. Keep your fingers crossed, y'all.
