Oh dear. Thanks to Stumble, I find that The Scribbler is a rather addictive Flash app to play with. Though I think perhaps it ought to be called "The Instant Fanzine Illustrator," instead. The results certainly remind me consistently of old school space abstracts of the late '60s and early '70s.
