It seems -- this has happened at least a couple of times now -- that if I leave the Trader Joe's organic heavy whipping cream in the fridge long enough, it becomes clotted cream. It doesn't sour or otherwise go bad -- it just thickens in places into something the consistency of sour cream. Kinda nifty, if I ever get around to opening a tea shop in town (Hal has the name picked out already: The Duchess of Kent). On the other hand, apparently one can clot one's own cream on the stovetop, and that is probably quicker. Still, interesting discovery.

The Peculiar Tea Shop just doesn't have the same ring, does it? Would you stop by a place with such a name, even if it advertised Afternoon Tea?

Oh, I quite like The Peculiar Tea Shop, though I would be tempted to stick an 'Old' in the canonical spot. I feel certain I would happily stop by for afternoon tea or Afternoon Tea in such a place.

But it's possible I'm not normal. Every time we drive by the southern Washington town of Kalama, I have visions of moving there and opening a little antiques-and-tea shop and calling it Kalama Tea.

Hmmm....

Admittedly, there aren't a lot of beer drinkers in those parts, but someone might drive through town who might walk into an Old Peculiar Tea Shop and demand a pint of this, though of course, the spelling is different. Or it could be the Peculiar Old Tea Shop, and I could stock a bit of rare Pu-erh tea from the late Qing dynasty. Or even...I'd better stop at that.
