Purple Cap FTW

I finished my first hat over the weekend. Took me a while to get the double decrease I was doing right, so there's a zig zag in the decreases across the crown. I decided to leave the wrong ones -- the zig-zag looks deliberate. Also, while I did a gauge sample and based the size on the sample, I didn't know how much to reduce the size to allow for stretch, so I didn't, which means the hat really is a bit on the big side, since unstretched it's just the size of my head. Might be better for someone with dreds. On the other hand, it is an object, it is finished, and it looks pretty good for beginner's work, so I am provisionally pleased. But I still have a bit of yarn left over so the question is: tassel or not?

Bounty

1. Love my Valentine roses. TJ's FTW. Also: sunlight!

2. Basement is slowly getting much better organized, in great part thanks to Hal's efforts. I was pleased to find my supply of shrink plastic in the second box I opened.

3. May finally get back to making jewelry, now that I have most of my tools and supplies available, and I even have a clear workbench. Yay, sweetie!

4. The Twilight Supper Special at Harbor Lights is a good deal. Charcoal-pit grilled steaks are wonderfully smoky and the 'nectar'-style clam chowder is very tasty without all the cream. Surprisingly nice sourdough bread, too. And just around sunset the water turned a lovely aquamarine color against the purpling sky. Tacoma is underrated.

5. We Have a Plan for the award part of the FAAn awards. So all you people out there who read fanzines, fill out your damn' ballots and vote. You can find a ballot here. Vote. Vote, vote, vote.

6. Kinky Boots - Why have I never seen this before? Chiwetel Ejiofor can do anything wonderfully. As His Nibs points out, this is The Efficiency Expert meets Priscilla, Queen of the Desert (with perhaps a touch of The Full Monty thrown in). What's not to love?

7. Vonage device received and installed. We're one step closer to banning Comcast from the house.

8. Big connectivity changes are in progress. We expect to drop all rat bastard Comcast services by the end of the month. If you're using my @comcast.net address, you may want to switch your address book for the @gmail.com address instead. Comcast mail may forward, but, it also may not.

Edit: Oh, fine, nectar it is, then. See if anyone ever follows your comments now, monkey boy.
