So, my flight arrives at MSP's Hubert H. Humphrey terminal at 5:00 tomorrow morning. Are there shuttles to the 4th Street hotel at that heinous hour, or should I bespeak a cab? I'm thinking I may just fall into bed on arrival and nap for a coupla hours until normal humans are likely to be up and about.

Laurel claims that there's a shuttle from the airport to the hotel (actually, she says the other way around, but I assume it's reciprocal), and the hotel website confirms it's a 24-hour shuttle.

I should have checked that first. Thanks!

Slightly more adventuresome, Light Rail to the hotel is one stop from the airport. They're every 10-15 min, even at that hour (claims the website), but involves a certain amount of walking.

Actually, as [livejournal.com profile] sraun says, three stops. Light Rail. Normally, I'd recommend taking the LRT as part of the Minneapolis Adventure (tm) since it involves walking through the airport, taking the airport tram shuttle and then experiencing Light Rail, which is not quite BART but is kinda neat, then waling a few blocks through a recently built-up industrial park. Still, if you have any issues at all with walking then take the hotel shuttle, which is free.

Makes sense. Still, knowing that there's a light rail station nearby that connects to the Mall of America on the one end and downtown Minneapolis on the other is nice in case I want to do some independent exploring or whatever, after I get my bags stowed.

What's your comfort level carrying your stuff & walking? The Light Rail would pick you up at the Humphrey Terminal and drop you off about three blocks from the hotel. Cost would be $1.50, $2.00 if you're after 6PM. Map & Schedule is at http://www.metrotransit.org/images/routes/055.pdf, you'd want to board at the Humphrey Terminal & get off at the Bloomington Central Station.

Ordinarily three blocks with one bag is a doddle. But in this case, I'll have to see how my achilles tendon is doing in the morning. It had been healing up okay, until I strained it again running for my train this morning. (This would be less annoying if the rat bastard driver had not pulled away -- two minutes early -- with me right by the closed door on the platform...) Anyway, it looks like the hotel shuttles go every 30 minutes, so that will do me just fine if I'm still limping.
