So far, my favorite new Halloween candies are the marshmallow Peeps tarantulas. Though, the caramel filled chocolate eyeballs are pretty tasty. Pity Cadbury isn't spiritually an American firm, tho. I think the potential for filled Cadbury eyeballs is vast.

Hmmm, I like caramel. I figure I'll buy the candy to hand out on the Monday before. No use in it sitting around the house.

Normally, I wouldn't have been out shopping for Halloween this early, but it's a special case this year. We're in the new two-years-temporary building at work, and a lot of people are feeling a bit put out and grumbly about the move and the building, so there's various plots afoot trying to keep people a bit more cheerful.

One of those plots apparently involves a Secret-Santa-like game where if you get a treat from an anonymous cow-orker, you then have 24-hours to pass on treats to two more cow-orkers. I got tagged last Friday, so I needed to go stock up on treats.

Man, it's a brave new world of Halloween wonders out there. I knew things had been getting increasingly fanciful and specialized, but there's way more cool shit than I ever noticed before. I particularly dug the treat boxes that you fold up into the shape of a coffin, which have a jaunty dancing skeleton on the front.

Oh. Dancing skeleton. That reminds me I must get to Fremont over the weekend and Buy Art.

Oh, that would be a good reason for buying now, and probably a good idea to make people happier at work, too. I haven't even ventured into the candy aisle yet, so I wonder what they'll have. We don't have that many kids here, so I have to get something I like, too.

Well, technically, sugar skulls for El Dia de los Muertos are the very opposite of new, but that is a very cool link you got there, bwah. I used to have a pair of skulls that I bought in Tijuana, but they didn't survive the pre-move cull when we moved up to Washington. I very much like the idea of being able to buy molds and make my own, now that the Mexican border is no longer conveniently close.
