Nicked from jophan. A couple of surprises here. Not a group of people who, in Real Life, I would say make up a coherent clique, exactly, though I think they'd make for an interesting dinner party. Admittedly, the group is uniformly fannish, and even pretty uniformly fanzine fannish. But it's a little odd who isn't in my largest clique. It's actually not surprising that libertango isn't, since he's quite deliberately kept the fannish "friends" to a minimum, but I would have thought marykaykare and several others and I had a large overlap of shared "friends". I'm also intrigued to see that of 12 LJers who are in the clade, 8 1/2 are women. (Not to say that the female half of fishlifter isn't all woman, but...) I think that must be an artifact of who gets on LJ, because I certainly don't think my circle of acquaintance is otherwise quite that heavily biased toward women. Quite the opposite, in fact. Anyway, a more-than-usually interesting thumbtwiddle, as LJ things go...

Update:

Oh, and another possibly-interesting feature of this clique: I've met them all in Real Life. This is somewhat less surprising than it might be for some, since of the 86 people I have thus far friended on LJ, only 31 are folks I've never met in the flesh.

Yeah, I'm missing 4 of those from my friends list (fishlifters, maryread, billzilla, and the gardener). Of the ones in my clique I've met all in person except baldanders, and so many of the people I know also know him and I've heard so much about him, this feels insignificant. Out of 122 people on my friends list only about 25 are people I have never met face to face, which is why those 4 named above aren't there. And I guess I haven't seen enough of them on other peoples' comments to push me to adding them. Which is how I usually get people I don't know.
