...then the news that Ian Richardson has died would eclipse that about Anna Nicole Wossface, but I am not, you know, holding my breath or anything like that.
The "Grey Poupon" commercial was being played on TV when my niece was at the perfect age (3 or so) to hear it as "poop on mustard." "Who'd want THAT?" she'd say.
Not having had the...opportunity...to see much live commercial television in the last 27 years or so, I don't tend to associate Richardson most strongly with the Grey Poupon campaign. I think I've seen the commercial once. Maybe. On the other hand, he's been in a number of fairly iconic stfnal films including Brazil, the "Gormenghast" mini-series, and Dark City. Tony Not-Cullen-the-Other-One does a nice career summary here -- I'd forgotten he was in Tinker, Tailor -- or check out the vita at IMDB. My point about the comparison to Anna Nicole Smith is that, as "entertainment figures" go, Richardson was one of no small accomplishment, and deserves to be honored for it -- Smith, not so much on the accomplishment front.
