Personally, I think idolizing someone who committed suicide is stupid.

I still do like to listen to Nirvana, but for crying out loud, the media attention on his suicide is insane.

I idolize him, not for being dead, but for having lived. Well, not "idolize" - would "appreciate" do?

He's not the first creative person to be idolized after suiciding. Sylvia Plath comes to mind.

If the media attention to his suicide is insane, what about the attention paid to the idea that he was murdered? That, at first sniff, is even wackier.

Just a side note, there's a band in my local area called "Jim's Big Ego" and they do a version of "kum by ya" to the tune of smells like teen spirit. It's brilliant.

He's not the first and probably won't be the last. I don't know why it upsets me so much, it's just more of the media blowing things out of proportion.
