Clique-y Thing, Revisited

The clique checker seems to be making another round through people's Journals. I had slowly accreted quite a few folks on the FL since last time I ran it, and so I was curious to see if my cliques had gotten any bigger, or more numerous. I plugged in "akirlu" to see what came up.

One clique of twelve, which was rather disappointing.

But it was weird, too, because the one clique of twelve that I got did not in fact match the one clique of twelve that brithistorian got, which I was also in. Surely that means I ought to have at least two cliques of twelve? And then I found that in supergee I was listed in at least three other cliques of twelve from his lot. Curiouser. So I tried running it from scratch this time, rather than the cached version.

I seem to be in very few cliques that do not either contain flyingsauce or surliminal or both. Also, all of my cliques seem to be dominated by the Brits. I guess that's what TAFF will get you. Or something.

It also seems to limit the displays to only those of the same size as the largest clique.

I am in some five of size eight.

You, and supergee are in all of them.

In neither his list of cliques, nor yours, is any of those cliques present.

No, the smaller ones don't list. The cliques of 12 that I got or saw on previous iterations included far mor Americans. It's a weird algorithm.

I refreshed once and now I'm in um, rather more!!

I susepct the Britfans make more cliques cos we all know each other pretty well. As with fandom in real life, it's easier to know all the Brits than all the USANs..

Last time I did this, I got four cliques of 14, but each of the four was missing just one of 17, so it was really one big clique of 17 with 13 members at the core and 4 members out of touch with just one other member. Funnily enough, flyingsauce and surliminal's previous incarnation were two of the four, IIRC.

I don't feel like doing it again until they get more sophisticated ways of diagramming that sort of arrangement than just a list. Venn diagrams would work well.
