Busy, busy, busy at work. Summertime is moving time on the university campus and for reasons too tedious to go into, ours can't wait until my little undergraduate minions can be re-hired for the summer. So this is me, moving furniture and boxes, one step ahead of the painters. Ho, hum, didn't I just do this? Lucky thing I'm a strapping girl who doesn't fuss about her nails too much.

Spent my lunch hour working on mailing comments for Acnestis, which has returned me to a vaguely human state; washed the fish oil out of my shirt and put it back on backwards to minimize the humiliation, or maximize the mystery. ("Why yes, I do roll in my lunch. What's it to ya?") And now I'm ready to put up the little mental thumbtwiddle of personal priorities called Chaos into Order, which I lifted from [livejournal.com profile] supergee who got it from [livejournal.com profile] elisem, and so on.

Your task, should you choose to accept it, is to rank the following things in order, from "couldn't live without" to "couldn't care less". To add value to this process, you must also add one item to the list - which can be achieved by subdividing an old category if you like - before passing this on (including these instructions, which if you’re me, you edit with reckless abandon, instead). You can remove one item too, if you want.

Well, I'm breakin' rules all over the darn' place. The item that's an original addition to me is was art supplies/stash. Shiny paper, beads, fabric, feathers, reams of clean white paper, polymer clay, finished clay canes, pens, paints, brushes, fabric dyes, buttons, lace, ribbon, glue, glitter, gloss, tin wind-up toys, pipecleaners, decoupage goo...gotta have it. Screw the drugs, gimme a sparkly I can play with.

But I also added back flirting which somehow disappeared between Elise and Arthur, and something that isn't precisely flirting, but is a playful component of interacting with people, is one of the things that makes it worthwhile to be alive, so that's gotta be in there.

The rest of the ranking was kind of hard. I love to dance, but it seems like I hardly ever do it -- by myself in the living room is fine, but right now my tape deck is eating tapes. Live music is more resonant for me than recorded, but recorded is easier, so I listen to it alot more often. Recently I went through another spate of not being able to stand even NPR on my morning drive, so it was surfing across the dial, looking for the next station that wasn't glopping up the airwaves with fatuous, inane Morning Happy Talk radio, or news that was only making me homicidal. Comics I like in brief bursts, but it's been a decade since my last one, so... And boats. I don't have [livejournal.com profile] libertango's acute tropism, but I love sailing, and being on the water, though I haven't gotten back to it yet. My daily commute across Lake Washington makes the kayaks and canoes and even the crew sculls look tempting. Soon. And better pubs were of course one of the underlying reasons to move to Seattle in the first place. Now I can have lunch and a beer at Big Time whenever I want. That's pretty damn' cool.

The throwaways were television and videogames.
