...and it's probably for some really stupid reason, like the people who did the underlying database used apostrophes as meaningful characters, or something! There's always a dumb excuse!!!

Yeah, it's the fact that they are, themselves, Irish that is so exquisitely galling.

Local friend thinks that it's because all of the airline backend systems were all coded in the 1960s and had no punctuation characters because of Fortran- or Cobol-related coding reasons and the web aps are just stuck with the legacy.
