akirluStopped at Bulldog News to get a hot chocolate and an almond croissant to sustain me through the morning. By way of making conversation, the barista asks, "Did you watch the game?"
"No, I did not," I said.
Her face lit up. "Me too, I did not watch the game either! Finally somebody understands," she enthused. Then she paused briefly, fiddling with the steam nozzle. "Of course, I'm happy that everyone else is happy," she said diffidently.
I agreed as I sipped my chocolate and signed my receipt. In her excitement, she had swapped the plain hot chocolate syrup for the cinnamon enhanced Mexican mix, but I didn't say anything. I like Mexican hot chocolate -- I should get it at Bulldog more often.
And I did enjoy all the illegal (?) fireworks going off in Kent last night, signalling that the Seahawks had a Superbowl win at last. I stepped out on our front deck for a while to enjoy the big chrysanthemums blooming noisily overhead and all up and down the Kent valley. Whatever neighbor it was up the hill behind us had even thoughtfully laid in a supply of blue-and-green bottle rockets, but I enjoyed the ones in other colors just as much.
I do hope the fans who decided to climb onto the pergola at Pioneer Square didn't damage it too much. There were reports of some broken glass, and that would be a pity.
