So on Friday I did indeed do All The Things: ordered new checks, sold off two boxes of used books, arranged to get rid of two grocery bags full of old Bead & Button and Martha Stewart Living (yes, really, what's it to you?) magazines, fetched the 2nd hand Billy bookcase, packed away a bookcase full of books, and juggled bookcases until I had a configuration I liked, which looked quite a bit like this:



Which was sufficient progress on the project to go ahead and go to the farewell Clarion West party, and mostly chat with people I already knew, and consume excessive amounts of Mary Kay's wonderful wonderful chocolate-dipped strawberries.

On Saturday I got up and unpacked all the rest of the books again (11 boxes!) onto the newly configured shelves, which looked a lot like this:



I particularly call your attention to the fact that there are empty! shelves! even after all the books have been unpacked. Luxury.

Tinka helped by immediately occupying the box unpacking chair, so I would not be tempted to get lazy and sit down while I was working:



Then I got silly and started organizing the shelves chromatically. We'll see how long that lasts, but for now, I find it amuses me.



Today I didn't really do very much at all, other than run a bag of stuff down to St. Vincent de Paul and crochet a few squares for the chair cozy I'm making for the slipper chair that the cats have loved great fluffy chunks out of. I should go start a load or two of laundry, but for now, I have more bookshelves. And slightly fewer books. Progris.

Those look great! Good job.

At my previous abode I had a couple of bookshelves arranged chromatically. It drove some of our visitors out of their minds. I say, if that's how I remember which books are which then get over your alphabetizing self.
