To Everything There Is a Season
Aug. 2nd, 2013 12:28 pmWell, it's August already. I guess I had better post something.
Today is a Do All The Things day. Over the summer, when the office is not so crazy, especially not so crazy as it was this particular Spring quarter, when it was totally Cray-Cray-ku-RAY-ZEE, I have arranged to take Fridays off. After doing some puttering with my annual leave numbers and accruals and such, I realized that at an absolute minimum, I have to take 16 days off between now and next February, lest I hit the cap for annual leave and start losing it. (No, I can't take it as cash unless I quit.) So I've been taking my Fridays and enjoying the three day weekends, which mostly still isn't long enough to get up a proper head of steam to accomplish all the stuff that needs doing around here, but today, by golly, All The Things.
By which I mean empty the Billy bookcase in my office so it can be shifted, bring up the Craigslist find medium Billy bookcase from the basement to the new, created space, take a bunch of books off to Magus for sale, and pick up a third second-hand Billy in Phinney Ridge. This will net me 2 medium and 1 narrow birch Billys for $50 which I consider to be a damn fine deal, and may -- I say may -- leave me with enough shelf space to corral all my loose books and binders and get them on actual shelves. And if I can do all that, I can go to the last Clarion West party of The Season tonight and consider myself well accomplished.
Actually, since I already have a Freecycle taker for my old Martha Stewart Living and various beading magazines, and a back-up in case the first one fails, I feel somewhat accomplished already. Now, to the breach, dear friends.
