I tried softshell crab at a little place on an island in the middle of Chesapeake Bay. Thought that'd be an authentic enough location. Didn't like it. Tasted like fingernail parings.
However, the fresh corn-on-the-cob that came with it, and that I'd seen growing around the nearby mainland - that was delicious.
