She Was a Good Cat

I found a few more pictures of Lefty, from last year. Her personality comes through a bit better in these, at least to me. This was taken when she was enjoying some afternoon peace in September of last year. The pictures bring me back. The household balance of quadruped relations was so different, back before Sarah died and before we got Kaylee. Sarah and the cats had an amicably distant relationship. Kaylee is too young and obnoxiously interested in the cats to make a good companion, and Lefty had given up lying on the couch much, preferring to stay in the bedroom. In the bedroom, Pax Leftimus reigned on the bed, at least so long as Tinka didn't try to intrude.

I had forgotten that Lefty had a period last fall and winter of sleeping on Hal's coat when it was left on the couch. Lefty was sweet to everyone, but it was clear for quite some time that Hal was her most special person.

It's been useful rumaging through the photo archives, labeling files and remembering what we've taken. It's good to have informative labels on things, and it's good practice. I'm going to have to wade through all my parents old photos soon, figuring out what to keep, what to discard, and what to destroy. I seem to have become the family archivist by default -- Georg is sending me a scanner he bought for my parents but never sent, so that I can scan all the keeper photos and share them around. It's going to be a fairly photographic next few months, I would guess. And as I did some preliminary sorting of my parents photos over last week, I have to admit, the photobug apple has not fallen far from the photobug tree. But these days, I do take better pictures.
