1. Still my favorite exchange from Stage Beauty:

She: Mr. Kynaston, I can explain everything!
He: Why, are you a philosopher?

2. A Haiku:

3. Noticed while walking the dog this morning: the pink of our flowering plum makes a nice contrast against the chartreuse green of the new leaves on the pussy willow mystery shrub-tree. Not surprising since the pink-laden branches also look wonderful out the front window, where they contrast nicely against the fresh-moss-colored living room walls.

4. A week-long bout of houseguests makes for even less laundering and even more restaurant meals than is our norm. Also not conducive to writing or even blogging.

5. Another haiku in lieu of blogging:

Now go forth and be grateful. I almost entitled this one "Five Random Haiku Make a Post."

What I think is a spot-on analysis of why so many people feel entitled to give Silda Wall Spitzer an extra ration of shit for standing next to her husband during his resignation speech can be found at Salon. In a word: projection.

Okay, that's a poor summary, so go read the article. But it does put me in mind of PNH's response to Robin Hobb's rant, in which he remarks, in comments:

Maureen McHugh once observed that 99% of all relationship arguments boil down to shocked cries of YOU'RE NOT ME! I suspect the observation can be generalized even more widely.

Why lookee. Already we have a case in point.

And yeah, to get back to that article above, I too am quite certain that there are things Silda Wall Spitzer could use more, this week, than having to justify her choices to self-righteous strangers.
