Okay, here's a pair of gormless questions for the assembled sages:

Google supposedly allows you to save links in Google, so that you can keep your links in the cloud rather than individual machines. Howzat work, pliz? What bunny should I be clicking?

There's a style of high, lintelled, wide but short window -- pre-dates the arch, possibly predates the Egyptians, but certainly used by them -- where the windowed wall is in a "popped-up" section of a building so the windows bring in light despite not being in the outermost walls, not unlike a clerestory except that clerestories have arched windows. This style was later adopted by at least some Modernists. It has a name, I swear. What is it? It's driving me bats.

Neither of these questions is important in the grand scheme, but if anyone can help me so my brane stops itching, it would be a kindness.

Do you have the Google toolbar?

If you download that thingy, there's a doofus for saving links on it, shaped like a star. You can assign tags to your bookmarks, too. Sadly, I haven't figured out how to import big hunks o'preexisting bookmarks to it yet.

Anyway, if you log into Google on any machine where you have yon toolbar, you ought to be able to get to your bookmarks.

For link saving I use Yahoo!'s del.icio.us - it seems to work a lot better than the Google equivalent, which is Google Shared Stuff.

Oh. On the toolbar. Doh. I am an idiot. I knew I would say that when someone pointed out the obvious, but still. I am an idiot. Yes, I have the toolbar, but I was hunting around the Google homepage. Dork, dork, dork, me.

Ah, it's a good point about using del.icio.us. I may go fiddle with that a bit.

You're not a dork

It's not an astoundingly obvious tool. My husband can't abide toolbars and turns them all off because they take up space, so he misses out on some really cool stuff. I use the Google one at work because I'm forced to use IE there, and it helps to compensate for that.

Okay, I'm not a dork. But I do feel pretty dorky. 'Cause I just looked up and there it was, right on my toolbar. In my defense, I have a pretty cluttered toolbar -- not just Google, but Yahoo! and Stumble! as well, so there are rather a lot of tiny bits of colored bling confusing the eye up there.

Clerestory is the word you are looking for. Arched windows are not a requirement, only windows above eye level that provide light into a space. See, Wikipedia:

Ah. Right. That would explain why my brain would keep insisting on handing me that word.
