The real trouble with working on novels in coffee houses isn't the dreadful patina of poseurdom, but the damned interruptions by attractive young women who want to pet my computer: "Aw, that's so cute! It's pink!" "Can I look at what you have there? May I hold it?" It's worse than having a puppy, I swear.

Guys who buy male enhancement products are missing a sure bet. I have a firm, pink, 9" appendage that attracts women like bumblebees to comfrey flowers. And I can surf the web with mine.

Every time I travel through Geneva airport with my Eee, it takes twice as long to get through security because the staff always want to open it up and prod it. Not because they think it's dodgy, but because they think it's adorable :o)

*choke* "Hey, baby, would you like to touch my Insert key? Argh, not the Numb Lock!"

Yes, in retrospect, I begin to think that going for pink may have been a mistake. It just makes the thing that much more irresistable to cooing admirers.

But hey, it has a "Pause/Break" built right in. How useful is that?

I confess, the hubby and I went into geeksville in the lobby of the Concourse seeing our first Kindle, the Amazon e-book reader. I hadn't seen one. It was bigger than I expected but the print size/quality was quite nice. However, considering how many unread paper books I have sitting at home, I can't imagine why I would want to buy an e-book reader of any kind.

I'm not sure I would get a dedicated e-book reader at this point anyway, when the Eee could serve the same function and do a bunch of other stuff as well.

It's hardly comparable due to the cost, but my Fujitsu T2010 tablet makes a nice e-book reader when the occasion suits and does everything else the rest of the time. There are up down arrows on the tablet face that work splendidly for scrolling through PDFs and the like.
