Even if you don't normally care about sport(s) or softball (or just Really Terrible headline writing), take a moment and go read this piece anyway. If you don't cry you may want to get your vitals checked, but it's nice to be reminded, especially in parlous times or even just On Monday, how amazingly decent people can be in a pinch.

I needed that, after hearing one of the losing players cuss out the Sir after the rugby tournament Saturday. (Unfortunately Sir ignored him.) It wasn't the bad language, but the bad temper: don't need that in a contact sport played without pads.
