Oh dearie me. As far as I'm concerned, [livejournal.com profile] off_coloratura nails what all I find uninspiring about Torchwood and its merry band of soap operatics.

But don't go there if you don't wish to be spoilered. Otherwise, bask in the lovely, lovely snark.

I avoided it for ages as I'm not a Who fan, but Jordin talked me into watching an episode and now I've got interested. I'm so shallow. It was the boy on boy snogging that did it. Right there on your tv screen, or as a panelist at Boskone said, pre-slashed for your enjoyment.

The fella who plays Captain Jack is impossibly gorgeous. International Kilt Wearing Day was earlier this week and a pic of him in a kilt was making the rounds. Did you see it?

Yes, everything she says is true, probably. I've only watched 2 episodes. Both featured boy on boy action -- in one of them it was James Marsters and Captain Jack. Eeek.

Yes, I'm shallow. So is tv.

(abashed shrug) It's not as though I can disagree with a word of that.

But at this point I just let all that stuff wash over me as I look at The Pretty. Barrowman does such a slipshod job of making us think he's attracted to Gwen that I can't help but wonder if he does that on purpose, to make all his man-kissing appear even more blindingly hot.

Speaking of near-porn, if you or anyone reading this watch House much, allow me to recommend to you this reasonably good bit of House/Wilson slash. No actual sex scenes, but it managed to make me *believe* that House and Wilson could get together. At least it made it seem more likely than Wilson and his *current* love interest.

I'll be in my bunk.

I like how Tosh and Ianto are both the only competent one.

That's awesome snark. And totally what I find annoying about Torchwood. I stopped watching almost halfway into the first season or something like that. I wanted more of the Jack that's in Dr. Who. Oh well. (greetings from new zealand....free wifi at the b&b while we take a rest before wandering back into Christchurch to find some supper)

I have to admit though, I am enjoying Season 2. Season 1 was dreadful but they really have fixed a lot of the problems I was having.

Although, of course, Owen's face still creeps me out.

Yes, exactly, Captain Jack from Dr. Who was why I gave it a chance -- I wanted more of that one. People claim the second season is better than the first, but I'm not finding the difference enough to sit still through an entire episode.

Speaking of travel, we're having some folks over to our house for Vanguard on the first weekend in April. We haven't officially called it our housewarming yet, but that's the effect...

See, I liked the original boy-on-boy snogging from Dr. Who much better, probably because Captain Jack as portrayed in that Dr. Who two-parter was a much more engaging character. John Barrowman, while pretty enough, is just so disappointing when he doesn't have the better quality writing backing him up.

(Although if you particularly dig boys in kilts, you might be amused by this page I found while Googling "Barrowman + kilt".)

Mazel tov. I have no desire to interfere with anyone else's porn. I'll be in the corner watching reruns of Changing Rooms.

Your kink is okay, but it is not my kink. Yes, I am a sad bunny to want better plot and character even in my porno, but there it is. Meanwhile, you enjoy the pretty. Someone should.

:) Normally I'd agree with you. Something about Torchwood breaches my usual rules for this sort of thing, what can I say.

Perhaps I should watch some Changing Rooms or something.

Agreed. He looks like a lizard, or like Brad Dourif in Alien: Resurrection (from whom he even stole a bit of business to use in one Torchwood episode).

I see that besides my 39th bday (friday of that weekend) there's this thing called "Vanguard - Seattle trip" on our calendar now.....contingent on airfare price and boss willing to put up with a long weekend after taking 2.5 weeks off (shouldn't be a problem for me, may be for nbh).....whee!

Well, airfare wise, the silly fare (because of departure and return cities being inconvenient) is currently at $234 RT per person on Continental...if you fly out of Providence and return via Manchester. (I did say it was silly.) Otherwise it looks like United has a $243 RT in and out of Manchester. Actually flying out of Boston, the best I'm currently seeing is $329 RT, on Jet Blue. But I'm sure you can play with Kayak.com on your own time. Anyway, it would be very, very cool to see you guys.

39th huh? That would be enough to make me feel pretty old, if it weren't for the fact that I had already recently figured out that this year John Sparks will be turning 50. That makes me feel old. Oh, well, I guess I'd better go chase some children off my lawn.

Providence and Manchester are about an hour away and definitely options we've used before. It'd be worth the $9 extra dollars to fly in/out of the same airport. :-) Thanks for the initial looksee......that's not too bad at all!!! Course, with the furnace on it's last legs and the emergency vet visit yesterday, we're feeling a pinch. But we don't have to deal with the furnace until before next winter, so out of sight, out of mind. ;-) I'll give ya a definite in the next few days. I'm very confident I'll be there. Not as much for nbh. I'm assuming we're crashing at your abode....the couch in the living room looks comfy....

50. Oof. How time flies.....

I'm sure DIY porn will not be for everyone. I suppose it's even possible that Lawrence Llewelyn-Bowen will not be for everyone. But if you happen to spot the late-series episode that re-decorates two cricket clubs, with Lawrence hosting, do keep an eye out for the outtakes at the end where Lawrence is clowning around without any trousers on. Mon dieu!

I totally hear you about the house expenses. Sometimes I think we should just plan not to ever go anywhere again. But yeah, please plan to crash at our place. We have things to sleep on, one way or another.
