Nanny Get Your Goat

Sometimes I torture myself by looking through the Pets section of the local craigslist. The other day someone was looking to adopt out a pair of Nigerian pygmy goats, and in the wake of a bit of lawnmower trouble at home I thought, "Hey, goats! Cute pygmy goats! That's a fine thought for lawn and weed control!" Indeed goats are also excellent for controlling exotic invasives like ivy, and aggressive native species, like blackberry. Alas, I did not follow my whim and get the goats. Sarah would love some goats to herd.

Now I find that we may not need to get our own goats. (Which sounds like the irksomeness equivalent of autoeroticism.) Right now UW is using goats for campus clean-up, as a greener alternative to herbicides and gas-powered heavy equipment. But has the U gotten into the urban goat raising business. No! They have only rented the goats. From a Vashon Island enterprise: Rent A Ruminant. Fabulous. I love stuff like this. Now if only someone will found Lease a Llama so our department can hire pack animals for our off-campus soujourn in Condon Hall.

Monday. Actually, the movers start on our department on Monday, running 2 shifts, and expect to take 3 days to move just our department. The overall move for the whole building will run through the first week of September.

But if you count the run up to the move and the packing phase, well, I'm soaking in it and have been for weeks. It's just now getting seriously frantic.
